AFAIK they go directly to the metal. Hardware creators say you lose warranty when using VLC, because it can damage the hardware to run it above 100%

it works 200% because 400% was doing damage to internal laptops speakers therefore you would hear less and less in the end and would have to replce them :) + it was unstable as fuck ripping noise etc so instead they added noise reduction along with 200%+

Use kmplayer, then vlc. Kmp maxed out 100, vlc maxed 200, sounds the same loud
