All those years of adolescent fantasies and this was how Bowie Bodine first touched my boobs. And he apologized. Real life was stupid and unfair.

Small town deputy Cassidy Tucker’s dating life is a train wreck on repeat. All she ever wanted was a solid partner. A man to share pajamas with. The handsome, big-hearted Bowie Bodine. Wait. Scratch that. Mr. You’re-Like-a-Sister-to-Me is not welcome in her fantasies.

She and Bowie aren’t going to happen—that’s been clear for a long time—and as for the rest of mankind? Cassidy’s officially giving up on love and adopting cats. Good thing the cold case disappearance of Callie Kendall is heating up to keep her distracted. Except the investigation is testing her friendship with all the Bodines—Bowie in particular.

Bowie knows he can’t have his little sister’s best friend. He made a promise and he’s determined to keep it. But putting distance between them isn’t easy—not when she lives right next door.

Having her poke around trying to prove his father’s guilt isn’t helping either. All Bowie has ever wanted is to shed the No-Good Bodine reputation. It’s looking like he’ll never be free of that shadow.

But one nocturnal animal, a feverish against-the-wall kiss, and absolutely zero pajamas has a way of changing everything.

Bowie Bodine is book boyfriend perfection!

Bootleg Springs is the most fun I've had reading in a long time. I absolutely love to read, but scouring these books for clues on the disappearance of Callie Kendall, spinning theories, and discussing those theories with fellow Lucy and Claire fans takes these books to a new level! Top that off with a new and engaging romance in each book and recurring characters you can't help but love and you've got Bootleg Springs! Moonshine Kiss is book three in this series, and it is amazing! I couldn't love Bowie and Cassidy more! Bowie is book boyfriend perfection. Even when he doesn’t think he can have Cassidy, he is there as a friend and protector. He is the perfect combination of oh so sweet and protective. He is a good guy through and through. I love that he would do anything for Cassidy, and while his reasons for staying away may be misguided, he always tries to put her first. Cassidy is amazing. She is strong and independent, but given her past experiences with Bowie, she tries hard to protect her heart. She is the ice to her best friend Scarlett’s fire, and as an officer of the law she always tries to do what is right. However, when her loyalties are questioned, she is forced to reevaluate those gray areas in life. Bowie and Cassidy both have a lot going on in their lives, but I loved watching them figure out how to support one another. They fit together like two perfect puzzle pieces, and while they have always loved each other, it was fun to watch them figure out how to embrace that love. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I loved that Bowie knew what he wanted and refused to back down. He never pushed Cassidy beyond what she was comfortable giving, but he consistently nudged her to embrace what she wanted while working hard to prove he wouldn’t let her down. I love that each of these books lets us check in with the characters and relationships from previous books as their lives are so connected. I also love guessing who will be next and who they will end up with. I went through all the emotions with this group yet again in Moonshine Kiss. I laughed so many times, I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation when new evidence was revealed, I was disappointed when things went wrong, and I celebrated when things worked out. I love this group, and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to be released! If you haven’t read books one and two, I highly recommend you start there. While the romance in each book is new, the mystery is a lot of fun when you read in order. You also don’t want to miss any of the stories, because they are all fantastic!

So much to love!

It’s impossible to isolate one thing I love about this book. The town, the people, the hero, the heroine, the cats, the moonshine, the mystery. It’s all woven seamlessly into a wonderful story. Cassidy Tucker has loved Bowie Bodine her whole dang life. She had tried not to spend the years pining, to little success. Because Bowie also happens to be her next-door neighbor, her best friend’s brother, her emergency contact, the man of her dreams. Bowie has a lot to make up for. A careful man. A solid citizen of Bootleg Springs. Because of his family’s past scandalous behavior, he knows he’s not good enough for Deputy Cassidy Tucker. But oh, does he long for her. Usually I am drawn to either one main character or the other, but with Lucy Score, I undoubtedly wind up falling in love with both main characters. As usual, the town and its people become a character that add so much richness to the story, as well as the ongoing mystery of “what happened to Callie Kendall?” Fall in love with Cassidy, Bowie, and Bootleg Springs!

Moonshine Kiss Is Late Night Magic For This Lucy Score Fan (Warning Label Required)!

It was about 11:20 PM when I finally sat down to read the newest Bootleg Springs Series collaboration by authors Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley. Moonshine Kiss, the third book in the series and authored by Lucy, is the story of Bowie Bodine and Cassidy Tucker. Cassidy, a deputy, has been in love with Bowie for most of her life. Unfortunately, Bowie has "friend zoned" or really even worse has "sister zoned" her. What's a girl to do....maybe she'll just get a house full of cats?!? Unbeknownst to Cassidy, Bowie is NOT having sisterly feelings toward the Bootleg Springs beauty but must outwardly remain the "brother" that has left Cassidy feeling unwanted and unloved. Fast forward to 2:30 AM when I finally put aside my tablet after devouring Moonshine Kiss. To heck with sleep or work the next day! The book is soooooo good that it absolutely required me to finish it...no matter the consequences. Lucy Score has done it again...cost me sleep and made me a grump at work the next day! Let me also add that according to true Lucy Score fashion, Moonshine Kiss is well written, well edited and her attention to detail as always is sublime. She is best known for her rom-com and once again Lucy has delivered. However, to this devoted fan, what makes her books so phenomenal is when there is just this tiny bit of angst and my heart bled for Cassidy as she is forced into the "sister" zone. Of course, the reader gets return visits with the rest of the Bootleg Springs cast of characters, an ongoing series mystery to puzzle over, and we mustn't forget the infamous Mona Lisa McNugget! You will just have to read the series to learn more about her! Luckily we are once again gifted with Lucy Score's magic....and in my case 2:30 AM late night magic! A word of advice.... don't start Moonshine Kiss late in the day. Maybe, a warning label should come attached to the book cover. "WARNING! Moonshine Kiss May Cause Insomnia. Must Be Read Well Before Bedtime!"

Just Keeps Getting Better!

*Rubs Hands together excitedly while emitting a high pitched squeal* Time for more Bootleg Springs Action! Thank YOU! This series has quickly become something I never knew I always needed! The twists keep coming! With an old high profile case still under investigation, the Bodine families chances of life getting back to a " normal " state aren't looking good. Meanwhile, the hotter than Hades, wit-filled entertainment that came from watching Bowie and Cassidy dance around each other as their flames get closer to detonation was just the beginning of the emotional, sweet, hilarious fan your face worthy journey these two embark on as they figure out who they really are and what they want from one another. With the help of their friends, family and most of Bootleg Springs of course! GAH! I want a Bowie! I'll take his sister Scarlett as a B.F.F too, just not out drinking pretty sure that would kill me... Sigh! I am freaking in LOVE with Moonshine Kiss! I just want to wrap myself up in this book! ** Is that too much? Eh?** A Fantabulous addition to the series, with things heating up, the blasts of mystery and intrigue getting more in-depth, I am in deep and don't mind if get lost for a bit! Bootleg Springs is the place to be!

Bootleg Springs is back and just as awesome as I had expected!

“Our bodies recognized each other. Recognized that connection, the physical craving that only the other could satisfy.” Bootleg Springs is back and just as awesome as I had expected! Laughs, friendships, love, heat & a mystery all rolled up into an amazing book... It’s Bootleg Springs, so of course it was hilarious! The small town antics were in full force in Moonshine Kiss. I was laughing out loud during the entire book, which I expect from anything from Lucy Score! We all saw this romance coming since the first book! And it was everything and more than I could have expected. The love between Bowie and Cassidy is sweet and pure and so real. Seeing their relationship morph and grow into this beautiful undying love and romance was heartwarming. But rest assured even with enough sweetness to give you a cavity, there is enough heat to steam up the windows in an SUV! And we get more insight into the mysterious disappearance of Callie Kendall... and even more questions... This book was absolutely wonderful and I cannot wait for our next installment of this fantastic series!!!

FRIENDS TO LOVERS SMALL TOWN ROMANCE

I love a series when family members reappear and a story line continues…a soap opera in book form with way more romantic scenes! In book 3, Bowie Bodine and his childhood crush, Cassidy, finally get their HEA! Cassidy is his younger sister, Scarlett’s best friend who stars in Book 1, Whiskey Chaser, another 5 star read! I love Lucy’s writing style and how each chapter built upon the next of how they came together and how bits and pieces of their history were revealed. He hurt her when she was younger by claiming he didn’t have feelings for her and it was very emotional reading his explanation years later. Everything is not always as it seems and this book was filled with surprises, forgiveness, and new opportunities. Now that they are adults, the age difference isn’t an issue and there are different scenes with her being in law enforcement and him as a vice principal in the local school that were often funny, but very real. They have so much in common and I loved the slow build-up and flashbacks to their past. Their chemistry is undeniable and the way they truly love each other is very sweet. I especially loved the tender scenes when they opened up to each other, and how he was committed 100% and fought for her heart! “You’ve always been my girl,” is one of my favorite lines. Very swoon worthy and my idea of a hero for sure! I like a man and woman who can admit when they are wrong and who have a strong ethical character, and both Cassidy and Bowie have this in spades. My favorite scenes are when they are with their families, Devlin, Leah Mae, and the townspeople–especially the Bodines who make me laugh out loud all the time! Love the town meetings, the baseball game, and making of the moonshine! So original and cliché at the same time! If you love small towns, laughing out loud, mystery, suspense, and romance, this series is a must read! I am really looking forward to Jonah’s story and am so glad he decided to stay in Bootleg Springs, West Virginia! Looking forward to reading Book 4, June’s story.

Love Cassidy!

Well I’m so glad I’m done with this book. It was enjoyable getting to learn about sweet, strong Cassidy. We get great insight into how the rift began and we get to see her grow as a person and it’s great. I was on her side and just rooting for her throughout the book. I knew I would only have my love for Cass grow in this book just because she is best friends with Scarlett but I didn’t know what to think of Bowie. Well I can tell you that I hated him. He reminded me of an ex...from high school. I found him insecure, selfish, annoying, pathetic, and weak. There was plenty to learn from this book which is why I read it but I had to force myself to not throw my kindle across the room. We get more insight into the case and each clue has me spinning more theories or going back origininal ones. I’m still excited for the rest of the series and love getting to see Bootleg in each book but good lord I found my least favorite Bodine and least favorite character of the series.

Friends to Lovers with that Bootleg Moonshine Fun!

Finally I made it back to Bootleg Springs! I swore to myself I would get back to this series last year and well that didn’t go as planned BUT now I can listen in audiobook with the fantastic Stephen Dexter and Natalie Duke narrating. This series is guaranteed to make me laugh and have me dreaming of the fun chaotic life of small town living. The romance plus the mystery of an unsolved missing persons case throughout the series is utterly addictive. Take that TBR pile! “I just loved him for so long there was no other way to feel about him” Book Three in the Bootleg Springs Series centers around Bowie Bodine and Cassidy Tucker. Cassidy has been in love with Bowie for as long as she can remember, except for when he crushed her heart calling her like a little sister and thus ending her dreams of marriage and babies. I absolutely love this storyline of friends to lovers, with a little forbidden love with Cassidy being a Deputy and Bowie being the son of a suspect in the investigation. The push and pull and hilarious banter had me laughing out loud so many times. The sexual tension was high between them but Bowie never had a good role model for love and happiness, so saving himself the heartache of not being good enough for Cassidy broke my heart. The Bodine’s are fiercely loyal family and Cassidy is extremely loyal to her job, add in the town gossip and this makes for some high tension and hilarious situations. I love this series and Bowie was an especially swoon worthy hero, and Cassidy was a feisty, strong heroine. Once again I am hooked, Bootleg Springs is my kind of town!

Entertaining, funny, and steamy.

*** 4.5 Stars *** Moonshine Kiss (Bootleg Springs Book 3) by Lucy Score with Claire Kingsley is a contemporary, romantic comedy with a bit of mystery. The story is told in first person, dual POV and takes place in the fictional small town of Bootleg Springs, West Virginia. Deputy Cassidy Tucker has loved Bowie Bodine her entire life, but as a teenager, he broke her heart. Over the years it's become painfully obvious that all she'll ever be to Bowie is his little sister's friend. Dating apps have also been a complete bust, so Cassidy has decided to give up on finding love, get herself some cats, and just focus on work. Bowie has secretly loved Cassidy for most of his life, but he knows that he can never be with her. He made a promise, and even though it hurts, he'll keep his promise. But living next door to Cassidy makes it difficult to keep his distance. Especially when she makes him furious by withholding details about the investigation into his father's role in Callie Kendall's disappearance. What promise has kept Bowie away from Cassidy for all these years? Will evidence be found proving his father is innocent or guilty? Will Cassidy and Bowie finally find a way to be together? Or will their ties to the investigation keep them apart for good? I really enjoyed Cassidy and Bowie's love story. They were both relatable and loveable characters. It was entertaining, funny, and steamy. I'm having fun collecting clues about Callie's disappearance as they're revealed in each book. Looking forward to the next story.

I'm feeling mushy and gushy again

Oh my lordy, I LOVED Moonshine Kiss. My eyes are blurry and my back is breaking after reading for four hours straight. I haven't had an intense reading frenzy like that in yonky donks but I just couldn't stop. There's something about knowing, or thinking you know, the characters before you even start. Within a few pages, I knew what had scared Bowie off from the love of his life. It was just lucky theirs was "true love" and nobody else would do in the eight years it took for them to come together. Seriously, this series is magic and Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley definitely have a distinctive voice and I will be purchasing more of their previously published books. For starters, they're bloody funny, but while funny, they also manage to suck the emotions out of the characters too. There were a few times I was sniffling and taking deep breaths to control the tears. I feel like I know these characters and I, like the town of Bootleg Springs, need to see Bowie and Cassidy find their happy ever after together. The intrigue in this instalment takes a tricky turn when Cassidy's job is on the line because of her connection to the Bodine's. As a small town deputy, she has to remember her badge while also remembering that she's one of them. How do you draw the line? Does the job come first? When family and friends are involved in an enquiry, should you share new info? Hmmm...even I was a little bamboozled as to where the line should be drawn. I would hope our officers of the law have an inbuilt detector that beeps when you're getting too close to the line. I seriously had mushy, gushy feelings in this one. When Bowie and Cassidy finally connect, my heart was pumping and there was a big goofy grin on my face. Bowie and his words were MAGIC!! I found myself wanting to highlight some of his words and hint at hubby that he could use a bit of magic to get on my good side. Don't tell hubby, but I guess this would be the negative of marrying young...with maturity comes magic words. Hubby is great now, but I was lucky to get more than I love you, I want you...lets hit the sack, back in the olden days. 😉 (If you do see this hubby...LOVE YOU!!!) Anyways, absolutely LOVED Moonshine Kiss. The only smidge of a negative, I have to wait for more. 😭 But, I am excited as June is definitely someone I have grown to love and her love interest...SO COOL!!!
